
Internet resources: Google launches “Google books” service in Russia
«Google Books» – is a global company’s project, whose goal is to create the universal index, which will include information on books in different languages. The Google project collaborates with more than 30 thousands of major publishing houses and 40 libraries worldwide.
Partner Program Google is working with Russia’s publishers such as “Olma Media Group”, “Eksmo”, AST, “Peter”, “Geleos”, “Dialectics”, and many others. Representatives from these and other Russian publishing houses participated in a meeting with representatives of Google.
“It is a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to familiarize the Russian people with the “Google books” project. This is the ambitious project, that will help Google to get nearer to our principal goal – to organize the global information and make it available to users”, said Santiago de la Mora, the Head of Print Content Partnerships, EMEA. - The world literature is the inexhaustible depository of learning, and the Russian writers play an important role in it. The books in Russian have been already accessible due to the partnership with the Russian publishing houses. I hope that in course of time the number of books will increase, because the mission of “Google books” project is to become a genuine international project”.
