The 65th anniversary of Great Victory: International Conference in St. – Petersburg focuses on the legends and myths of World War II

The International Conference “World War II. Myths. Legends. Reality” will open on November, 25 in St. - Petersburg. 

The Conference will bring together the teachers of history, students, scholars, representatives of social organizations and Mass Media from Russia, Finland, Czech Republic and Germany.

The participants of the Conference will familiarize themselves with the following reports: “Treaty of Non-Aggression between Germany and the USSR (Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact)” (August, 23 1939). Legend about the “preventive” war of Germany against the USSR”; “Public danger of history falsification”; “The problems of relations between the USSR and Baltic states in 1939. Their modern analysis”; “To the problem of Finland’s participation in the war against the USSR (1941-1944)”; “Danger of history falsification in politics”; “Western allies of the USSR in World War II. Second front. Clash of interests” “And again about Katyn…” and many others.

Among the conference’s organizers are the public charitable organization “St. – Petersburg Council for Peace and Conciliation” with the support of the Committee for External relations of St. - Petersburg, the International non-governmental charitable organization “Federation for Peace and Conciliation”, Department of modern history, Faculty of History of  St. – Petersburg State University and the Academy of Military-historical sciences.
