The first round of the youth contest “Russian language: I am the professional!” will take place in St. – Petersburg. The Meeting to be convened on November,12 in the Foundation for Education support building will open the competition.  Among its participants are senior pupils of the gymnasiums and lycées of St. – Petersburg who will form 6 teams.

The contest “Russian language: I am the professional!” has been worked out at the faculty of Philology and Arts of the Saint-Petersburg State University. “This is an educational collaborative business contest based on modern web-technologies. The website of the competition provides the model of the editorial stuff of the publishing house. Here the pupils of St. – Petersburg will have a chance to participate for a while as journalists – authors, editors and designers. In the finale the young “professionals” should demonstrate their edition’s issue”, - explains Sergei Monahov, the moderator of the contest “Russian language: I am the professional!”.

The first round of the contest will be held in November – December. The organizers of the event say that this will be the “project’s testing”. The participants of the contest will challenge the tasks represented on the website. “Those teams, whose issue will be considered the best, in other words, children who know their Mother tongue better, who can express their ideas in the most accurate and unorthodox way, who can show a deeper understanding of the urgent social issues  and are ready to work in teams will become the winners of the contest”, - add the organizers.

The aim of the contest’s developers is to attract a keen interest in Russian language among the pupils. “The journalism has been chosen to popularize Russian language. It serves as the tool to attract attention”, – explains Sergei Monahov.

The best pupils’ works will be published in the St. – Petersburg magazine “Prochteniye”.
