65th Great Victory Anniversary: Film festival “Zolotoi Vityaz -2010”

The 19th International film festival “Zolotoi Vityaz” (Golden Knight) will take place from May, 25 to June, 4 2010 in Moscow, announced its President and People’s Artist Nikolai Burlyaev at the session of the 1st Slavonic Forum of Arts, which initiates the function.

According to Mr. Burlyaev, the film festival will have a special focus on the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War.

The program of “Zolotoi Vityaz” festival will demonstrate over 250 movies from 35 countries according to 7 categories: entertainment, TV, documentary, short film, debut, student, animation and films for children.

In each of the following categories the International jury will award a “Golden”, a “Silver” or a “Bronze” “knight”. The best film of the festival according to the jury’s decision will receive the grand prize.

Festival will be opened with the film “Burnt by the Sun - 2” of the Forum’s Honorary Chairman, director Nikita Mihalkov.

The declared films will be shown in cinema halls of the hotel complex “Izmailovo” and the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism.

“This festival meets an urgent need of all our peoples. It focuses on the unity of our cultural tradition and will demonstrate the way it presents in the cultural phenomena of the 21st century” – said the Chairman of the State Duma Culture Committee Grigory Ivlev.

Nikolai Burlyaev announced that forum would also recognize contributions in cinematography, literature, musical art, art and martial arts and give the awards n. a. Sergei Bondarchuk, A. S. Pushkin, Georgy Sviridov, Alexander Ivanov and Alexander Nevsky accordingly.
