Presidential Library: V. V. Putin visits the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library

On December, 11 2009 in the framework of the working visit to St. – Petersburg Vladimir Putin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, visited the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library to participate in the sessions of the Supreme Body of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC or EAEC) – held at the level of the heads of the government.

At the Supreme Body of the Customs Union meeting the participants focused on the issues of its launch from January, 1 2010. They discussed a wide range of problems related to agreements conclusion and other standard acts adoption on implementation of the main conditions of the Agreement on principles of levying indirect taxes on export and import of goods, completing works, providing services in the Customs Union of January, 25 2008. The Heads of the Governments exchanged the ideas on agreements concerning the sphere of technical regulation; the application of sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary measures in the Customs Union; the system of transmission of foreign and mutual trade statistics to the Center of Customs Statistics of the Customs Union Commission, the establishment of an integrated information system of foreign and mutual trade of the Customs Union, and also the plan of actions, directed to creation of a common economic space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

At the meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council the Heads of Government considered the implementation of the joint measures to overcome the effects of the global financial crisis in the EurAsEC member states. The members had a special focus on creation of EurAsEC interstate databank of migrant workers.

The Agreement on the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) establishment was signed on October, 10 2000.
