Museums: “Best Museum Project-2009” award announces its prize-winners

The awarding ceremony of the contest “Best museum project 2009” took place on December, 7 in the Chamber Theatre of the United Museum of the Ural Writers in Yekaterinburg.

This year the award went to the museum of the city’s history, the museum exhibition center “Gamayun” and the Ural State University Culturology and Arts department. Special awards were given to the museum of history of the tram and trolleybus department and the United Museum of the Ural Writers.

The award was established in 2002 by the joint decision of the Department of Culture Administration and the Council of museums’ directors of Yekaterinburg. The aim of the contest is to identify and support the promising projects, and also consolidate the single museum net of the city.

The Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg Mikhail Matveev states, that this contest is a case in point of the strategic city’s development plan implementation.
