26 January 2010

Comics of Russian cartoonists, for the first time to be displayed at the largest International Comics Festival in Angoulême (France), have been represented in St. - Petersburg. The project is called “Born in the USSR”.

Eight artists, who participated in the project, were asked to create comics, dedicated to the USSR – the country where we were born and which ceased to exist. The organizers claim that the project attracted the most famous Russian cartoonists. For instance, E. Katyhin, the most well-known Russian creator of comics has produced an unusual comic strip: he has modeled it from plasticine.

The Comics Festival was organized in Angoulême in 1974. It is considered to be the largest and the most prestigious comics festival in Europe. For the first time in 36 years, cartoonists from Russia will present their project at the International Festival in Angoulême.
