The “Private correspondent” informs that the first free book store “Action. Interchange” was opened in the club “Skvot” in Moscow. This project was initiated by the “Action” newspaper – a free of charge periodical for youth. In the beginning of summer the interchange point was working for several days within the framework of the 4th International open book festival in the Central House of Artists, but only from December it was launched on a regular basis. The shop’s guests can leave here their books, magazines and DVDs and choose anything they like from the range of books provided in the shop in return.

The shop’s organizers set the following rules: the books, CDs or magazines, brought to the shop should be in a good condition; the interchange in the shop is free of charge; don’t bring rare and valuable articles; a fair and equal interchange is the guarantee of success.

Thus the organizers hope that, on the one hand, they will help people to get new books, and on the other hand to unload their book shelves. It is worth mentioning that the similar principles support representatives of ”bookcrossing” movement, and book interchange actions take place in different book sales points. However in this case the bookworms who are fond оf interchange are provided with a concrete regular place, what makes the newly created interchange shop a unique project.
