International events: "Russian wonder" at UNESCO headquarters in Paris

The exhibition-presentation “Russian wonder” (“Russkoye Chudo”) organized by one of the largest Russian museum complexes will open today at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. This complex includes "Kolomenskoye", "Lyublino", "Lefortovo" and "Izmailovo" museums of the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve of history, architecture, nature and landscape.

This exhibition is dedicated to the establishment of the first Regional center under UNESCO in the world. Its policy will be focused on the development of the International museums’ collaboration in preservation of the World cultural heritage and experience interchange between museum fellows worldwide.  The Dmitry Pokrovsky Folklore Ensemble will perform within the framework of the exhibition. The exhibition-presentation will display fund’s collections of the former Tsar’s summer residence in Moscow, where the museum-reserve is currently located, and the photographs of the architectural monuments. The best museum specialists will demonstrate the main stages of the technological process of old Russian icons restoration.

Among the guests of honour are UNESCO Deputy Director General Marcio Barbosa and the Chairperson of the Executive Board and a permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova. On Wednesday the concert “Wonder of the Russian love song” will take place at the Paris UNESCO headquarters in order to commemorate the Old New Year.

This exhibition-presentation will be in fact the first function to open the Year of Russia in France and a calendar of cultural functions UNESCO 2010, announced the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.
