Regions of Russia: “Christmas meetings” festival in Veliky Novgorod

From Dec. 26 to Jan. 10 Veliky Novgorod is holding the art festival “Christmas meetings”. The information agency “BaltInfo” announced in the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Archives of the region that the Festival opened with the Christmas tree celebrations in the Kremlin and Christmas concerts in the Church of the Apparition of the Holy Mother of God (Znamenskaya Church) and the Church of Sts Peter and Paul.

Among the participants of the “Christmas meetings” are the creative groups from Novgorod, soloists of the opera houses of St. – Petersburg – the laureate of International contests – Victoria Yevdotjeva (soprano) and the soloist of Mariinsky theatre Liya Shevtsova (mezzo-soprano).

The program of the festival includes: trio “Loiko”, the evening of humour. The most famous “Mother-in-law” of Russia Svetlana Rozhkova, the ballet in two acts “The Nutcracker. Christmas fairy tale” (P. I. Tchaikovsky) performed by the St. – Petersburg school of ballet, “Golden ballades of jazz" – performance of jazz trio from Moscow.

The festival “Christmas meetings” will close on Jan. 10 and present the musical journey to the fairy tale “Snow Maiden” (“Snegurochka”) (based on the Russian folk fairy tale), which will be performed by the Novgorod Orchestra of Russian folk instruments n.a. V. Babanov.
