
President of Russia: Dmitry Medvedev signs directive on holding Victory parades
On February, 19 the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a directive, which specifies order of holding military parades, which will mark the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war.
In accordance with this document, on May, 9 at 10 a.m. Moscow time the Hero Cities, as well as Sevastopol, and other 11 cities will hold Victory parades with involvement of military hardware.
Parades will take place in Vladikavkaz, Voronezh and Rostov-on-Don, which are holders of the honorary title “City of Military Glory”, as well as in Astrakhan, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Chita, and Khabarovsk.
Other cities, which hold a title “City of Military Glory”, and also Belogorsk, Samara, Severomorsk, Ulan-Ude and Ussuriysk, will hold marches of garrisons of soldiers.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is responsible for organization and holding military parades and marches.
The organizing Committee responsible for 65th Great Victory anniversary celebration will organize participation of veterans in the Victory Parade on the Red Square and the state reception.
Earlier, V. I. Kozhin, Head of the Department of Presidential affairs, informed that Russia was going to display what the Russian Army had at its disposal, as well as modern armament.
