Libraries abroad: Soviet classified information to appear at the Ukrainian Library

20 February 2010

The Soviet classified information is now available to patrons of the Zhytomir Oblast Scientific Library.

The Security Service of Ukraine has made secret facts of the history of Ukrainians a public domain.

After a long work 20 printed editions, containing documents, personal records and description of investigation cases have been unveiled.

Each of these books covers reliable facts of the history of Holodomor (“famine genocide”), revolutionary processes and communists’ repressions. According to the Security Service these resources are likely to become the basis for further research studies, and also represent the history of the people of Ukraine in a different way.

"These editions is a priority in the work of our service. There should be no secrets when it comes to political repressions, “Holodomor”, revolutions, or liberation movements. All these facts should be available for citizens of Ukraine as well as foreign citizens in order to avoid such historical events in future", - said Oleg Reka, Deputy Director of the Security Service of Ukraine in Zhytomir oblast.
