International events: Cutting edge technologies promote closer Russian-American relations

An American delegation of the Washington Administration representatives, CEOs of major American technology companies and executives of social media companies, such as “EBay”, “Twitter”, "Cisco Systems", "Howcast", "EDventure", "Social Gaming Network", and "Mozilla” will arrive to Moscow in order to highlight possibilities of consolidation and extension of the Russian-American relations with the help of cutting edge technologies.

A visit of American political figures and specialists is starting today. It is considered to be "a part of an extensive dialogue, launched within the framework of the Bilateral Presidential Commission", established by Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama in July in 2009.

Jared Cohen of the State Department’s Office of Policy Planning and Howard Solomon of the National Security Council will preside over the delegation. White House Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will also participate. The delegation is announced to stay in Russia till February, 23

The aim of the visit is to bring together "these leaders with representatives of the Russian government leaders, universities, private companies and non-government organizations”, informs the US Department of the State bulletin. They will discuss o wide range of issues, in particular “how social media and other innovative technologies can be used to strengthen and broaden ties between the United States and Russia, and how these technologies can be used to develop knowledge-based societies and economies in both countries".
