Libraries of Russia: Leningrad Regional Library spotlights Safer Internet

The Leningrad Regional Children’s Library has mounted a round table, dedicated to a Safer Internet Day. The event brought together librarians, teachers and teaching methods specialists of IT centers, houses of children’s arts, academies of professional education, who discussed strategies of teenagers’ informational behavior in the electronic environment, informs the Information Policy Department of the Leningrad region Administration.

Participants of the round table exchanged experience of pedagogic technologies in development of information culture of teenagers. It was mentioned that the new generation needed a modern book environment for education, development and besides for retrieval, choice and creation of new data.

The Leningrad Regional Children’s Library — is the largest, constantly enlarging collection of books for young readers of the region, whose fund contains around 130,000 storage units. The library’s projects “Freedom to read!”, “Dear book”, “Children and a book without boundaries” promote creation of modern book environment, and develop respect of adults to children’s reading.

44 works, which participate in the contest “Together with a Children’s library to the Safer Internet”, were displayed within the framework of the round table.
