IT: New Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh announced

Microsoft has unveiled its new software suite Mac Office 2011. The company claims that, one of the most notable additions to the software Mac Office 2011 is the new ribbon-interface, which has been firstly introduced in Office 2007 for PC.

Microsoft program managers inform that the ribbon-interface in the new Office 2011 “represents new opportunities for the Mac users, and incorporates all the best software achievements from 2 worlds - Mac and PC”.

The new Office 2011 version for Mac is expected to increase compatibility between the suites for the Mac and Windows operating systems. Thus, documents created in Office 2011 for Mac will be rendered correctly in Office 2010 for Windows, and that will enable users to jointly create any projects, working simultaneously with Mac and PC.

It will also enable to edit documents in Word, PowerPoint and Excel formats. The new option Presence Everywhere will allow the users to mark all the made changes in real time.

It is also known that Office 2011 will provide an updated version of the e-mail client Entourage, which prior caused many users’ complaints. From now on it will better suit Microsoft Outlook.
