Libraries abroad: The best US Public library announced

13 February 2010

A national magazine Library Journal has named Glen Carbon's public library (Illinois, USA) the best in the nation.

Glen Carbon Centennial Library was a runner-up for the award a few years ago, and this year it won after its usage increased by one-third in two years.

Its Director Anne Hughes says the library has focused on programs and partnerships to serve its population, and a recent technology grant nearly doubled its computer offerings.

In fact, there have been 36 grants in 15 years to fund programs and services.
