65th Great Victory Anniversary: "Postal rate paid" for veterans

8 February 2010

In commemoration of the 65th Victory anniversary in the Great Patriotic War all the veterans will receive unique envelopes for the free letter delivery, informs the press-service of the “Russian Post”. They look like traditional front-line letters, folded into a triangle.

Envelopes with a “Postal rate paid” sign will be given gratis to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Every veteran will get 3 such envelopes. Within the territory of Russia such envelopes don’t need any stamps.

The circulation of unique triangle envelopes, issued by the Publishing and Trading Center “Marka”, will amount to 1,5 million items.

In the USSR the delivery of the front-line correspondence was free. The letters were folded into the shape of a triangle, thus there was no need in envelopes, what solved the problem of their shortage.
