
World libraries: The National Library of the Netherlands launches strategic plan for 2010-2013
The National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek) will work intensively in the coming four years to realize a digital library that will offer everyone access to all digital and printed publications that appear in the Netherlands. As the national library of the Netherlands the KB its task is also to foster the establishment of a new (digital) information infrastructure. Close cooperation between the KB, scientific and public libraries is essential to grant everyone in the Netherlands access to scientific information.
This project’s implementation implies five strategic priorities 2010 – 2013:
- offer everyone access to everything published in and about the Netherlands;
- improve the national information infrastructure;
- guarantee long-term storage of digital information;
- maintain, present and strengthen the library’s collections;
- develop the KB into a challenging organization and an attractive employer.
