The Russian government is interested in creating the national search engine for Internet. The information comes from ‘RBK daily’ with the reference to the sources in the Russian Internet companies.

According to the edition the idea to create the national search engine was proposed by the Depute of the RF President’s Office Head Vladislav Surkov. From the end of 2009 the suggestion has been discussed in the Ministry for Communications. The new engine can appear already in a year.

The main difference of the engine from Yandex and Rambler systems will be its ‘focus on the state needs’. It is supposed that the state search engine will provide access to a secure information and filter the websites with illegal content.

Another specific characteristic of the engine is that only the Russian investors will be able to contribute to its creation. The newspaper also informs that there was considered an alternative solution – to buy Rambler as a system already in force. But finally it was decided to create the absolutely new system.
