Russian language abroad: “Days of Russian language” in India

A complex event “Days of Russian language, literature and culture”, organized by the Institute of Russian language of the Russian Center of Science and Culture jointly with the Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Russia took place from 10 – 20 March at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Mumbai.

The program of the “Days” included Olympiads for pupils and students, concerts of Russian folk music, organized by students. Visitors and participants especially liked the Russian folk song “Ti vospoi v sadu soloveiko” (“Please, sing your song in the garden, nightingale”), sung by the ensemble of Indian students.

The exhibition of textbooks, launched by the Head of the Institute S. Deshpande, aroused keen interest. The events brought together not just permanent visitors, activists of the Russian Center of Science and Culture, students of the Institute of Russian language and Universities of the City, people, who came to the Russian Center for the first time, but also representatives of the Russian Diaspora in Mumbai.
