Internet resources: dot-com domain celebrates 25th anniversary

The first Internet domain – dot-com, marked its 25^th anniversary. It was registered on March, 15 1985 in Massachusetts, US by Symbolics computer company, which produced computers and software. CNN reports, that the pioneer domain symbolics.com currently belongs to an investment company and will go on sale.

At the beginning development of domains was complicated. During first two years – up to 1987 – only 100 websites appeared on the web. By 1995 the dot-com domain registered over 18,000 websites, whereas presently their number have reached 84 million websites.
