Internet resources: The Internet Archive celebrates jubilee
The Internet Archive has recently marked its jubilee – two millionth digitized piece entitled “Homiliary on Gospels from Easter to first Sunday of Advent”.
The project “Internet Archive”, launched in 2005, is called to digitize copyright-free documents and make them a public domain.
In December 2009 it signed an agreement on cooperation with the Canadian company Indigo, which will help to distribute all these works.
The director of the “Internet Archive” book department claims that the fact that it was “Homiliary on Gospels from Easter to first Sunday of Advent” which was selected to become the 2 millionth piece for digitization undoubtedly became an honor for the whole team, who had been for the last 5 years selflessly working on this project.
This book is one thousand years old and it was only few people who had a chance to see it. It was written by three different scribes in the St Martin Abbey in Tours (France), approx. 100 years after it had been created by Heiric of Auxerre.
