Publishing: “World Book Day” in Moscow

On April, 23 the Moscow City Palace for Children and Youth’s creativity on Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) will hold an inauguration of a festive program, dedicated to the “World Book Day”.

Among organizers of the event are: Moscow City Education Department, International Association of Bibliophiles, Russian Book Union, non-commercial union “Guild of Book Dealers”, Association of Book Distributors of Russia, Chekhov Center Foundation, Moscow House of Books, the bookstore “Biblio-Globus”, publishing company “Mir Detstva” (“World of Childhood”), and Moscow City Palace for Children and Youth’s creativity on Vorobyovy Gory.

The opening ceremony will be accompanied by an exhibition of children’s paintings and miniature books. The event will bring together members of literary clubs, associations, schools of Moscow and guests of the city who will undoubtedly enjoy exciting events of the project “Literary wreath of Russia”: meetings with literature characters, contests, lottery and tournament matches.

The Small hall of the Moscow City Palace for Children and Youth’s creativity will hold meetings with veterans of Great Patriotic War, children’s writers, and publishers. All the participants of the event are going to receive books and souvenirs from organizers. Whereas the prizewinners of the city literary contest “We are worthy children of the Great Victory”, the contest of paintings “Me, school and friends” and the contest of a handwritten miniature book “Stories by Anton P. Chekhov” will be awarded certificates and presents.
