Museums: International conference “Museum and state” mounted in St. - Petersburg

The International conference “Museum and state” was mounted on April, 15 in St. – Petersburg on the threshold of the International Day of Monuments’ Protection. 

Mikhail Piotrovsky, director of the State Hermitage Museum, delivered a speech to welcome the participants of the meeting. Key reports of the conference highlighted cooperation of museums’ staff and authorities.

Specialists of leading world’s museums, and also representatives of regional and federal state structures of Russia and other countries discussed the most urgent problems of development of a museum in contemporary situation.

Participants of the conference paid special attention to problems of preservation of cultural heritage, where one of the vital issues will be to identify the role of a state and a museum in restoration and reconstruction of museum buildings. The section will be focused on the issues of International state legislation in museum sector.
