IT and authority: “Private cabinet” mounted on government services portal

“Rostelecom” has received and processed over 30,000 applications for registration in order to get an access to the “Private cabinet” of the gosuslugi.ru portal. This number of applications was submitted since the launch of the “Private cabinet” service on the portal two weeks ago.

In accordance with established regulations, users having access to the “Private cabinet” of the portal, that is being authorized users, may submit personal inquiries for getting information from executive bodies via the portal. They may also submit an electronic inquiry on providing government or municipal service in electronic form. In future “Private cabinet” will make it possible to check current status of submitted inquiry.

In order to register on the portal it is necessary to fill in the registration form, including name, surname, the number of the pension insurance certificate, Value added tax identification number (VATIN), telephone number, e-mail and address. All the data will be checked, and after that the citizen will receive a registered letter via “Russian Post” with an activation code of the user’s account. After activation of the code on the portal the citizen will become its authorized user.

Not authorized users as before may get only general information on procedure of rendering services by federal, regional, or municipal bodies.

The “Electronic government” portal www.gosuslugi.ru was launched in the test mode on December, 15 2009. According to the government of the Russian Federation “Rostelecom” was appointed the sole executor within the framework of implementation of the Federal target program “Electronic Russia” (2002 - 2010)” responsible for planning and creation of infrastructure of the electronic government.
