Russian language: “Days of Russian language and literature” festival launched in St. - Petersburg
The contest of creative works “My vision of Russian language of tomorrow” is coming to an end in St. - Petersburg. It has brought together residents of St. – Petersburg – journalists, teachers of Russian language and literature, and students-philologists. Its winners are going to receive prizes, whereas the main prize is a chance to participate in Russian language and literature holidays in America, Europe, Africa and Asia as a member of the Russian delegation. These functions are going to take place in 2010 within the framework of the International Russian language Festival.
The contest was held within the framework of preparatory work for the festival entitled “Days of Russian language and literature” in St. - Petersburg. Among the organizers are the Russian Association of Teachers of Russian language and literature and the Institute of Russian language and Culture of the Philology department of the St. – Petersburg State University.
According to the organizers, these events are aimed to promote Russian language and Russian culture among people of Russia. Consolidation of interest for culture of Russian speech, revival of language and literature creativity – are the goals, posed by the Russian Association of Teachers of Russian language and literature and the Institute of Russian language and culture.
The multifaceted program of the Days of the Russian language and Culture includes seminars, lections, master classes and round table sessions focused on problems of Russian language and Russian culture, as well as expositions of textbooks and editions for teachers. The event will launch seminars “Speech of the Youth and dynamic trends of the contemporary Russian language”, “Speech culture of the Russian as a mirror of Russian culture”. Another highlight is a master class “Jargon in daily life and public speech: how to react?”
A prominent Russian writer, President of the Russian PEN club, Andrei Bitov, is going to hold a public lecture, which will turn spotlight on the Russian language as a world’s language, which is to kick off at the philology department of the St. – Petersburg State University.
