Society and culture: Culture Coordination Council about a preparatory work for the 65th Great Victory anniversary celebration

1 April 2010

The preparatory work for the celebration of the 65th Victory anniversary in the Great Patriotic War was top of the agenda at the session of the Culture Coordination Center in Moscow. The Minister of Culture Alexander Avdeev assured that all the functions, which were to take place in the majority of Russian cities, would be true national celebrations.

“Most of all I liked a complex plan of St. - Petersburg. It is based both on latest technologies and the new formula of the city’s decoration. I liked a project called “emergency service of the Victory”. These will be travelling concerts of artists at hospitals and medical centers”, – stressed the Minister of Culture.

The participants of the session also discussed the bill regarding the status of state-financed organizations, and also the statistical record keeping of Russian libraries. By 2011 around 130,000 library funds will be checked. Such a large scale census resembles an inspection of 1,500 Russian museums, which was finished this year.
