
Russian language abroad: Foreign publishing companies awarded for contribution to Russian language preservation
On May 24 the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, awarded editorial staff of a number of foreign publishing companies with certificates of honor of the government of the Russian Federation, thus recognizing their great contribution to preservation of the Russian language and culture, as well as to consolidation of compatriots living abroad.
The list includes – “New Vienna magazine” (Republic of Austria), newspaper "Kostanay news" (Republic of Kazakhstan), newspaper "Europe-Cyprus" (Republic of Cyprus), newspaper “Russian courier of Warsaw" (Republic of Poland), newspaper "New Russian word" (United States of America).
On May 23 12th Congress of the World Association of Russian Press (VARP) opened in Israel. It brought together around 300 journalists and heads of print and electronic Media form more than 50 countries – from Peru to Australia. Within four days they are going to discuss issues related to providing support and development of Russian language information space, as well as challenges and targets, arising for press in 21st c.
