An International Scientific and Historical Conference in memory of the Grand Prince Mikhail Alexandrovich, brother of the Emperor Nicholas II, was launched on May 19 in St. Petersburg. The conference became the first scientific forum within the framework of the program, developed by the public committee responsible for preparation for 400th anniversary of the House of Romanov, which will be celebrated in 2013.

The event, which took place in the Palace owned by the Grand Prince Mikhail Alexandrovich (Angliyskaya quay, 54) brought together scholars, museum specialists, writers, priests from Russia and abroad. The requiem for the Grand Prince was conducted here for the first time by the archpriest Nikolai Konkov – father superior of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov, which holds the icon of Our Lady of Kazan, painted in 1888 for Mikhail Alexandrovich.
