65th Great Victory anniversary: Presentation of the book dedicated to the Siege of Leningrad mounted in Tallinn
Presentation of the third edition of the book “Diary of the Siege”, which contains more than 60 first-hand stories of Estonians about the besieged Leningrad, kicked off on May 18 in Tallinn.
Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar sent a message of greetings to the participants of the event and expressed gratitude to the book’s authors for keeping memory about the tragedy of those days.
"First two editions of the book came out in Tallinn in 2001 and 2005 accordingly, whereas the third was published in St. Petersburg with a support of the St. Petersburg City Administration. This is a testimony of strong, human bonds between our cities", - the Mayor’s message reads.
Book’s introductory articles have been written by St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko, Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar and Russia’s Ambassador to Estonia Nikolai Uspensky.
With the circulation of 2,000 copies the book was issued In St. Petersburg by “Petrocentr” publishing company and was funded by the St. Petersburg City Administration.
