Russia should enter the list of world’s developers of IT and software, and where possible, become a “trendsetter” in the area, the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, announced within the framework of the session of the Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of Russia’s Economy.

Dmitry A. Medvedev stressed that “in order to promote Russian IT production in world’s markets it is necessary to develop and offer our own standards and protocols of data and communication transmission". "Of course, there is no need in inventing a wooden bicycle in the sphere of communication standards, but on the other hand, it will be good if we come out as a trendsetter. It is much more convenient to set standards for the whole world, rather than adapt to them", - he said.

"Our goal is to make the industry reach the level of world’s developers of new technologies, software and services", - Dmitry Medvedev said.
