International events: Exhibition of communication and telecommunication industry achievements “Svyazexpokomm-2010" kicks off in Moscow

The largest exhibition of achievements in the communication and telecommunication technologies industry in the Eastern Europe called “Svyazexpokomm-2010” will kick off at the Moscow Expo Center. The event will be launched with a support of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of Russia, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and Chamber of Trade and Industry.

According to the Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media, Alexandr Zharov, "the exhibition has tripled in size as compared to the last year". This time the area of 25,000 square meters will house 540 exhibits, about 300 out of them have been produced in Russia. “Svyazexpokomm” will represent products of companies from 22 countries, among them are Austria, Germany, France, USA, China, Sweden and Japan. The exposition will bring together mobile network operators, companies-producers of telecommunication equipment, TV broadcasting companies etc.

Among Russian participants are such prominent companies and enterprises, as “Svyazinvest”, AFK “Systema”, “Megafon”, “Vympelkom”, VGTRK, RTRS, "Russian Post", "Gazprom space systems” and many others.

Russian and foreign participants are going to display the latest achievements in mobile network, 3G and 4G technologies, satellite communication, interactive developing games, TV and radio broadcasting equipment. The competition called "IT students e-cup 2010" will kick off within the framework of the exposition.

The multifaceted program of the exposition includes holding conferences, seminars and “round tables”. According to Mr Zharov, “special extended board session of Minkomsvyazi, during which the Ministry will make a report on the carried work in 2009 and the first quarter of 2010, and also highlight plans for the future" will take place within the framework of the event. During the session participants will discuss prospects of further development of Information and Communication Technologies sector, social-economic role of conversion of state services into electronic form, works aimed at preservation of the industry’s personnel potential.

Participants of “round tables” will turn the spotlight on problems of paid TV in Russia, providing Internet access of a high quality, introduction of digital TV. On the third day of the exhibition, on May 13, the first Russian forum for Internet management, organized by the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation and the International corporation ICANN will be mounted. Within the framework of the forum its participants are going to focus on legal and sociocultural aspects of managing the world virtual space, discuss problems of security on the web and prospects of introduction of domain names in national languages.
