"Discussions about those responsible for starting World War II are completely inappropriate, Soviet people were dying for the Fatherland, in order to avoid becoming slaves", - President of Russia, Dmitry A. Medvedev, stated in the interview to “Izvestiya” newspaper.

"The question is - who started the war and who is to blame? It is also undoubtedly evident! It has been fixed not just in the materials of Nuremberg Trials, in documents, but also in the memory of a large number of people. An attempt to falsify historical facts seem malice", - Dmitry Medvedev said.

He warned about starting arguments regarding the facts, fixed in international documents, like indictments of the Nuremberg Military Tribunal, which did not require any further proof.

"No discussion should appear regarding these questions, because these discussions do mislead", - President of Russia stressed.

"Where is the truth? Our people had no choice. They were people who lived in that time in our country, they might either perish or become slaves. No middle ground", - President emphasized.

Dmitry A. Medvedev explained that the struggle against history falsification was initiated by statements of some politicians.

"What was the cause? An outrageous behavior of some politicians, who, pursuing their own mean plans, turned to various pseudoscientific interpretations of those events, in order to win political popularity", - President clarified.

Meanwhile he stressed that for adults and younger people such words as “fascist”, "Nazi" without a doubt had negative connotations.

"However, unfortunately, not all accept this. Europe and many other countries rehabilitate fascists. Even in our country there are morally depraved people who try to use Nazi symbols and organize different mobs under such mottoes. Thus it is not an idle issue. But the most vital is to tell the truth to people", - President concluded.
