Regions of Russia: ’Volga – river of the world’ festival. Dialogue of cultures of Volga peoples

The participants of the VIII International Ethnological and cultural festival ‘Volga – river of the world. Dialogue of cultures of Volga peoples’ have arrived to the capital of Tatarstan on board of a motor ship.

The festival itinerary began in Saratov. Besides Kazan the participants mean to visit in six days such Volga cities as Cheboksary, Kozmodemyansk and then return to Saratov.

The delegation includes the representatives of 15 regions of the Russian Federation. The expedition however is dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of unity of Mordvinian people with the peoples of the Russian state. Official holidays and events in honor of the anniversary will take place in Saransk in 2012.

The motor ship with the festival participants on board was greeted in the river port of Kazan by the local authorities and public organizations representatives who brought the traditional Tatar sweet “Çäkçäk”. Folk company ‘Salavat Kupere’ has performed Tatar dances for the guests.
