The members of the Public Council for cultural heritage headed by Pskov region governor Andrew Tuchak, were presented with the concept and historical-cultural plan of the State Military Historical and Natural Culture preserve ‘The Battle on the Ice”. According to the regional authorities press service, the documentation was provided by the Head of project group under the ‘Spetzprojectrestauratsia’ Institute (Moscow) Elena Purisheva and Natalya Zaonegina, an Institute employee.

Elena Purisheva reminded that the last time the Museum project was considered at the meeting of the Public Council in December of 2009. Then the members of the advisory body made a series of comments concerning the historical and archival researchers and returned the project as requiring improvement. ‘At present all deficits are corrected’, - she said.

According to the project group director, there are three versions of projects of the future cultural preserve. They differ one from another by the total area of the cultural object. The biggest territory of the culture preserve is about 10 000 hectares and includes area of water with islands. As the main objects of the cultural preserve were selected: Gdov Fortress, the islands of Gorodetz, Vorony, Sigovetz, Kobylie gorodishche, observation point in Pnevno village and other. Probably the formation of the ‘live history’ and ancient technology exposition (medieval dwellings, utility structures, burial places, etc.). The developers believe that the coastline should preserved in its primordial state; as to the infrastructure it could be constructed near the lake of Vladychnoye.

“The Battle on the Ice” museum should be modern and maximum informative. It will become a basis for cultural and educational tourism and represent the museum and recreation center of Pskov region, - underlined Natalya Zaonegina.

Andrey Turchak, the Pskov region governor noted that historical plan of the museum is well elaborated. He suggested gathering as soon as possible all the necessary documents and submit them to the RF Ministry of Culture for approval.
