Russian language abroad: Russian World office opened in Sevastopol

On Russia Day, June 12, the Russian World Office opened in Admiral Lazarev Sea Library at Sevastopol Officers House.

The grand opening ceremony was attended by the Sevastopol town council president P. Ya. Kudryashov, Russian Consul General in Simferopol V. V. Andreev, the Black Sea Fleet commander, Vice-Admiral A. D. Kletskov, the Head of headquarters, the first assistant to the Black Sea Fleet commander, Vice-Admiral A. D. Troyan, the assistant to the Black Sea Fleet commander, Counter-Admiral A. G. Pushkarev, the assistant to the Sevastopol town administration president A. A. Klimov and other honorable guests.

‘Russian World’ Fund was represented at the event by the Director for relations with non-governmental organizations M. S. Nosov.

The ceremony participants discussed the significance of the event for preservation and development of the Russian language in Sevastopol. It was noted that in new political situation in Ukraine the Center opened by the ‘Russian World’ will contribute to popularization of the Russian language and provide new possibilities to its thorough study.
