Regions of Russia: Exposition “Orthodox Rus” kicks off in Novgorod

The third Interregional exhibition-fair called “Orthodox Rus”, marking the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, kicked off on June 10 in Veliky Novgorod.

The inauguration ceremony brought together the Archbishop Lev of Veliky Novgorod and Staraya Russa, Governor of Novgorod oblast Sergei Mitin, and Mayor of Veliky Novgorod Yuri Bobryshev.

Secular and church organizations from 40 cities of Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Greece and Israel displayed their icons, books, utensils, and jewelry.

The market stalls on Alexander Nevsky Quay will represent honey from peasants’ farms, herbs, and monastic fare. Within the framework of the exhibition will take place the photo exposition related to the preparatory work and celebration of the Victory Day “The Joy of Victory. 65 years later”, Festival of Russian spiritual music, the literary and musical lounge with works dedicated to the war, and the master class for children. The event will be also dedicated to the Day of the City celebration. It will include the film about the history of Novgorod and presentation of books about the city.

The event has been organized by Novgorod Diocese, Administration of Novgorod oblast and exhibition association “RESTEK”.
