Internet resources: Regional authorities to acquire city domains in .rf zone

The domain names in .rf zone which coincide with names of administrative centers will be managed by the authorities of relevant regions. These regulations have been established by the National Domain Coordination Center.

It deals with 94 names, owned by regions. Regulations permit to transfer these domains to city authorities. For instance, the priority right for the domain тюмень.рф is owned by the Tyumen oblast authorities. However the latter may wish to transfer the domain name тюмень.рф to the Tyumen Administration.

In order to acquire domains, regional authorities, who have domains reserved, should by September 2010 submit to the Coordination Center the requests for them, and then may conclude an agreement with one of registrars for registration and rendering service.

A preliminary domain registration in .RF zone has been already launched. In the near future Mass Media and non-commercial organizations will be able to register their domains. All other users will have a chance to register domain names only in autumn 2010.
