“The exhibition is dedicated to the upcoming 200th anniversary of victory of Russia in the Patriotic War of 1812, which had a great role for the Russian culture, – reads the message of the Culture Department of the South-Western Administrative okrug of Moscow press service. – It was this “terrible time” which in many respects prepared the ground for the “golden age” of ’30’s and ’40s of 19th c. Many monuments erected in the Borodino field, as well as pictures by Nikolai Samokish, Victor Mazurovsky and many others which portray remarkable feats of the Russian Army and episodes of campaigns are connected with it”.
