Internet resources: 1948 London Olympics archive online

With two years to go until the 2012 Olympics in London the BBC has unveiled its dedicated Games website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/2012). What is more, a collection of news, photos and video clips and programs from the 1948 Olympic Games in London are also available online through the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/olympics_1948/). The 1948 games became known as the Austerity Games - due to the economy and post-war rationing - and were the last time they were held in the UK after being scheduled for 1944 but then postponed because of the Second World War.
