IT and Church: His Holiness Patriarch Kirill appeals to priests to preach the Word of God on the web
Priests should only visit social networks in order to teach the Word of God, declared his Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during his visit to Odessa.
Patriarch dissuaded laymen and priests from using Internet for anonymous interaction in socials networks. He supposes that instead of surfing Internet just out of boredom, it will be better to turn to a pastor, who is always ready to offer work.
It is worth mentioning, that several days ago Partiarch Kirill expressed his attitude towards Internet in a somewhat different way. In his interview to the Ukrainian TV channel “Inter” he said that social networks were reviving epistolary genre. According to him, the revival of writing way of interaction on Internet disciplined thoughts like it used to be in the epoch of paper letters’ dissemination.
Patriarch Kirill is convinced that the thoughts expressed by the priests in the social networks, should be the thoughts of the church. He appealed to the clergy to actively participate in online life, however cautioned priests against great responsibility during such kind of communication.
