Libraries abroad: Malaysian National Library to build more rural libraries

The Malaysian National Library has targeted to build rural libraries in all state constituencies nationwide, its director-general, Datuk Raslin Abu Bakar, said. He said the government had built so far 1,089 rural libraries to enable the rural people have access to reading material.

In Penang alone, there are 82 rural libraries, of which 28 are managed by the National Library and the rest by the Penang Public Library Corporation. Simultaneously rural libraries with Internet access were opened in other parts of the country.
