Russian language abroad: Youth discussion “Study Russian language in Russia!” launched in India

14 July 2010

Even a short-term practice in Russia enables Indian students to achieve evident success in learning the Russian language and offers an obvious advantage over students, outside the linguistic environment, believe the participants of the discussion called “Study Russian language in Russia!”, which kicked off in the Russian Center of Science and Culture in New Delhi on July 9.

The event brought together students of the Russian language Institute of the Russian Center of Science and Culture and the University of Delhi, who had a study course (February to July) at the Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language in Moscow at the expense of federal budget allocation.

A number of students were selected by the Ministry of Education of Russia and were awarded state scholarships. Candidates for the state scholarship required more than 80% points of the maximum level of Russian language and only good marks in other subjects at school and university.

Students who returned from Russia showed pictures, made in the A. S. Pushkin Institute during studies, international festivals, sport competitions, told about the living accommodations on campus, shared their impressions about their interaction with Russians in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Irkutsk and other cities, which they visited during their five-month practice. Students got good final results and will continue to study the Russian language.
