International events: Web conference “Establishing International Partnerships”

On June 28 kicked off an International Web conference called “Building bridges to establish international partnerships: The nuts and bolts”. Participants of the conference discussed cooperative ventures involving exchange and sister library relationships. The conference was initiated by the American Library Association International Relations Round table and managed by the US State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs. Successful participants discussed the first steps to begin the process and garner support. The conference was attended by: Richard Blake, librarian, Waynesburg University; Sandy Chen, assistant professor, Clarion University of Pennsylvania; Henry Mendelsohn, regional information resource officer, U.S. Embassy, Cairo; Dr. Maurice A. Mikhail, consultant to Mubarak Public Libraries, Egypt; and Sha Li Zhang, chair, ALA International Relations Round Table.
