Russian culture abroad: Photo contest on the cultural heritage of 18th century Russia starts in Latvia

Latvian Association of Russian language and literature teachers declared the beginning of photo contest dedicated to historical reality and cultural heritage of 18th century Russia.

The idea of the contest organizers was to attract the attention of Latvian youth to historical reality and cultural heritage of 18th century Russia and celebration events on the occasion of 300th anniversary of M. Lomonosov.

The nominations of the contest are: “A branch of Peter’s root”, “Nature of the Russian North”, “… on the use of glass”, “Sciences nourish young men…”, “Photo mosaics”.

Photographs submitted for the contests should reflect architecture ensembles of 18th century in Russia, memorial sites related to the name of Peter I and the Russian empresses, products of glass, stained-glass windows.

Participants are welcome to prepare reportages from a school lesson, lecture, course in a higher education institution, scientific work defense, contest on academic disciplines, The Day of Knowledge, etc.

Photographs taken by teachers, school children and students of Latvia participate in the contest.

All the participants must submit their works during September 15-30. In the autumn the jury will announce the results. The best works will be shown at the exhibition to be held to mark the 300th anniversary of M. Lomonosov.
