
Russian language abroad: University of Israel to start teaching in Russian
For the first time one can obtain an academic degree in Israel studying in Russian language via Internet.
Administration of the Open University of Israel estimates that during the first year of the project implementation about 1000 students will sign up for a study course in Russian. The Open University President Hagit Messer-Yaron who initiated the program, hopes it will be of interest not only for the Russian-speaking Israeli, but for foreigners too.
Up to now all the textbooks of the Open University provided via Internet were only in Hebrew. Today the Russian-speaking students will be presented with 24 academic courses. Having completed them, the students will obtain an academic degree. The program for study in Russian includes the courses on ancient and modern Jewish culture considered in different historical, geopolitical and intellectual contexts as well as the courses on history, social and political system of Israel.
