History of Russia: Kaliningrad children will study the Old Russia in Novgorod

Over 400 children and teenagers from the Russian enclave will be visiting Novgorod the Great and Valday from August 15th to 18th in order to study the Russian history in these ancient cities as a part of Kaliningrad regional target program “We are Russians”.

The agency was told that during four days time three groups from Kaliningrad of 135 children each will be visiting Novgorod region.

Kaliningrad children will visit archaeologists working in Novgorod the Great at its largest Trinity excavations, get acquainted with unique monuments of Kremlin and Yaroslav Yard, visit St. George’s Monastery, the most ancient monastery in RF, and the Museum of folk wood architecture “Vitoslavlitsy”.

Kaliningrad children will also see the only one in the country Bells Museum and one of the Russian Orthodox Church sacred place – Iversky Monastery.

On Sunday the children of the first group will take part in the “Popular Assembly in Novgorod Kremlin” – historical theater performance during which they will learn to write on birch barks and wax plates.
