International events: Problems of information society under the spotlight in Moldova

The 16th session of the Coordination Council of CIS countries on Informatization under the Regional Commonwealth in Communications was mounted in Kishinev (Chişinău) (Moldova) on September 28 2010.

High on the agenda were issues concerning IT application in electronic document exchange in the external trade, as well as discussion of the Russian Federation expertise in development and implementation of the “.RF” Cyrillic domain project.

Participants of the event familiarized themselves with implementation of the Strategy of Cooperation of CIS countries in the Informatization, and defined the role of this Strategy as making use of Information and Communication Technologies potential for achieving the long-term goals of the state importance. Special attention was brought to the work, being carried out in the Regional Commonwealth in Communications countries-members, focused on implementation of national programs, projects and new technologies, aimed at creation of the information society. Among other issues brought into spotlight at the session was provision of information security of the “eGov” infrastructure.

The session brought together delegations of national bodies on informatization of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ukraine, as well as representatives of the CIS and Regional Commonwealth in Communications Executive Committee.
