Libraries of Russia: Interregional conference “IT and electronic resources at libraries” kicks off in Khakassia
On September 27-30 2010 the National N.G. Domozhakov library is holding an interregional conference focused on electronic resources and technologies implemented at libraries. The conference, which is operating under the aegis of the Russian Library Association, is being held by the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian branch (Novosibirsk).
The conference has brought together over 100 participants from Novosibirsk, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Minusinsk and the cities of Khakassia, who are going to turn the spotlight on urgent issues like IT introduction at libraries and discuss the following topics: developmental strategies of the information-library sphere on the basis of electronic resources and technologies; development of documentary-informational electronic stream in the region; IT platforms currently at use, IT infrastructure at libraries and information centers and their efficiency; introduction of the state-of-the-art IT and web services at libraries, latest products and services; problems of training, retraining and involvement of IT personnel at libraries; modern forms of interlibrary interaction; automated library-information systems.
The program of the conference includes a session of workshop reports, master classes, exhibitions of professional editions, and tours to Khakassia.
