International conferences: 1st International conference “Spiritual, historical and cultural heritage of the Solovetsky monastery: 15th – beg. 20th cc.” launched on Solovetsky Islands

The 1st International conference entitled “Spiritual, historical and cultural heritage of the Solovetsky Monastery: 15th – beg. 20th cc.” started its work on the Solovetsky Islands.

The conference has attracted specialists of the leading Russian and foreign research centers, archives and museums. Together with researchers of the Solovetsky Museum-Reserve and representatives of the Solovetsky Monastery they will turn the spotlight on various aspects of research and preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the Solovetsky Monastery. Top of the agenda are three sections: “Book heritage of the Solovets Monastery”, “History of the Solovets Monastery”, “Artistic heritage of the Solovets Monastery”. Collected scientific articles will be issued after the conference.

The conference is called to boost the research work of the heritage of the Solovets Monastery, accumulate expertise of the prominent historians, philologists, archeologists and art historians. Of no small importance is the fact that the conference takes place at the Solovets Museum-Reserve. Since 1967 it has been occupied with preservation and studying of the historical and cultural heritage of the Solovets Monastery and has a significant experience of holding scientific forums of the All-Russian and international levels. The conference “Spiritual, historical and cultural heritage of the Solovetsky Monastery: 15th – beg. 20th cc.” is likely to take place once in two years.
